ABOUT DEAFNESS
Deafness is clinically and hereditarily and can be caused by environmental as well as genetic factors. According to World Health Organization (WHO) over 466 million people live with disabling hearing loss. It is predicted that 2050 nearly one in ten people will have hearing loss. Hearing loss can be prevented and its impact reduced.

- Pure tone audiometry test helps to find the lowest sound in quietest environment at different pitches or frequencies. Having earphones on lets the sound go to one ear at a time.
- Speech Audiometry is a type of hearing test designed to assess how well you can distinguish certain words when you hear them spoken at different levels of volume.
- Tympanogram helps to check the pressure of middle ear.
- 95% with hearing loss out of 100% can be treated with hearing aids.
- Only 5% of hearing loss in adults can be treated by surgery.
